Family
Child should minister to his parents as the East:
(i) Having supported me I shall support them,
(ii) I shall do their duties,
(iii) I shall keep the family tradition,
(iv) I shall make myself worthy of my inheritance,
(v) furthermore I shall offer alms in honor of my departed relatives.
当以五事敬顺父母。云何为五。
一者供奉能使无乏。
二者凡有所为先白父母。
三者父母所为恭顺不逆。
四者父母正令不敢违背。
五者不断父母所为正业
Parents thus ministered to as the East by their children, show their compassion:
(i) they restrain them from evil,
(ii) they encourage them to do good,
(iii) they train them for a profession,
(iv) they arrange a suitable marriage,
(v) at the proper time they hand over their inheritance to them.
父母复以五事敬亲其子。云何为五。
一者制子不听为恶。
二者指授示其善处。
三者慈爱入骨彻髓。
四者为子求善婚娶。
五者随时供给所须。
